Thinking about a wood burning stove installation in Yorkshire? Choosing the right stove is only one part of the project. The hearth, fireplace chamber, chimney or flue system and overall finish all play an important part in creating an installation that looks right and performs correctly.
At Leeds Stove Centre, we supply and install wood burning and multifuel stoves across Yorkshire. Our work ranges from traditional fireplaces and brick chambers to contemporary freestanding stoves and complete twin-wall flue systems for properties without a suitable chimney.
Wood Burning Stove Installations Across Yorkshire
No two properties are exactly the same, so the installation needs to suit the building, the existing chimney and the finish you want. Some customers want to retain the character of an original fireplace, while others prefer a clean contemporary look. Our installations can include the stove, hearth, chamber preparation, oak beam, flue liner or twin-wall system, building work and plastering.

Installing a Wood Burning Stove Into an Existing Chimney
If your property already has a suitable chimney, it may be possible to use it for the new stove. Depending on the condition and requirements of the installation, work can include opening or preparing the fireplace, installing a suitable flexible flue liner and creating the new hearth and chamber. Brick slips create a traditional appearance, while smooth fireboard and honed granite can give a cleaner contemporary finish.

Traditional Fireplace & Stove Installations
Yorkshire has a huge variety of properties, from Victorian terraces and traditional stone homes to modern developments. Where appropriate, an existing fireplace can become part of the new stove installation rather than being completely removed. Natural stone, timber surrounds and traditional hearth materials can work beautifully with a modern efficient stove.

Modern Wood Burning Stove Installations
A log burner does not have to look traditional. Contemporary cylindrical and freestanding stoves can create a striking focal point and work particularly well in modern homes and open-plan spaces.

Traditional Chimneys & Flexible Flue Liners
Many homes across Yorkshire already have a traditional masonry chimney. Where the chimney is suitable, it can often form part of a new wood burning or multifuel stove installation. The chimney would be assessed and, where required, a suitable flexible flue liner can be installed through the existing chimney and connected from the stove to the chimney termination above.

No Chimney? No Problem
One of the questions we are regularly asked is: can I have a wood burning stove if my house does not have a chimney? In many cases, yes. A professionally designed twin-wall insulated flue system can provide a chimney system where a suitable masonry chimney is not available. The flue can be routed internally or externally, depending on the property and installation requirements.

Brick, Tile or Smooth Fireplace Chambers
The chamber can completely change the appearance of the finished installation. Traditional brick slips remain very popular, particularly with a solid oak beam. Customers can also choose suitable tiles or a smooth fireboarded finish for a more contemporary appearance.

Choosing a Hearth for Your Stove
The hearth is an important part of both the design and installation. A solid honed granite hearth gives a durable, clean finish and works with traditional and modern schemes. Other suitable materials and shapes can be selected to suit the fireplace and room.

Can You Have a TV Above a Wood Burning Stove?
This is something we are asked about increasingly often. It can sometimes be possible to incorporate a stove and television into the same feature, but the installation must be properly designed. Stove clearances, heat management, manufacturer requirements and television positioning all need to be considered before the final layout is agreed.

How Much Does Wood Burning Stove Installation Cost in Yorkshire?
There is no single price that applies to every installation because properties and requirements vary. The overall cost can depend on the stove selected, whether the property has a suitable chimney, fireplace alterations, hearth and chamber finish, flue liner requirements, access and whether a new twin-wall chimney system is required. We provide quotations based on the specification of each project.
